Just in case capsuleers wanted to know a little more about me as a candidate and who exactly I am, rather than write a standard bio, here's 10 RL facts about me, (in no particular order). Grab a cup of hot chocolate, relax and read on ...
1. IGÇÖm a bit of a 2001 geek. My desktop computer is called Hal 9000. It's icon is a picture of HalGÇÖs red GÇÿeyeGÇÖ and when it starts up, it says, in HalGÇÖs voice, GÇ£My circuits are functioning perfectly...GÇ¥ The names of my external HDs are also connected to the film. HD1 is called Urbana, Illinois, (where Hal was built and programmed) HD2 is called Clavius Base, (the name of the moon base in 2001). Lastly, and for additional geek points, my MacBook Pro laptop is called Sal 9000, (HalGÇÖs sister computer in the film 2010) and has a blue eye icon.
2. I freelance as a typographic print designer, print production expert and photographer.
3. As a child I used to go to a real flea pit cinema called the Carlton on a Saturday morning. We'd eat popcorn and watch space adverture films like Flash Gordon. Wonderful stuff. Going to see a film is still slightly exciting for me.
4. I once won a Blue +ûyster Cult record on a local London radio show by eating three dry cream crackers, really, really, fast. I'm quite proud of this accomplishment.
5. I'm dyslexic, dyspraxic and dyscalculic. I identify as disabled. I'm a represenative in various RL organisations for disabled people.
6. I once held my breath for 3 minutes and 30 seconds while training for free diving. I still swim lengths underwater fairly easily.
7. As a child, I went to a boarding school used by the authorities as a 'difficult' boys dump. It mixed special educational needs pupils with aggressive children from broken homes. The effect was pretty horrific. I survived, albeit with some fairly deep scars. Some boys didnGÇÖt.
8. I lived on Kibbutz Gilgal in the Jordan Valley for a year when I was 18. I also spent some time on Kibbutz Naan and Alonim. I was in Israel for about a year and a half in total. It really was the best time of my life.
9. IGÇÖve been a general and key volunteer at the Christmas Open project for the homeless charity, Crisis, (based in London in the UK) for over 15 years.
10. I love cycling. IGÇÖve ridden the UK London to Brighton charity bike ride 15 times and I also once rode around the Tour de France racing circuit in Paris, as part of the final stage, pre-race events. This is one of the best things I've ever done in my life.
Want to know more? Just ask.
. I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. |
